FAQ - Stocks Service

What kind of stocks traders are you? What is your trading style?

We are primarily swing traders who like to ride trends for a few days or a few weeks. In an ideal world we'd like to hold longer, but ultimately the market environment dictates our holding time.

Most of our set ups are classic breakouts from time tested chart patterns. Others are quick momentum trades that only last a day or so. The set ups we post are the types of set ups we trade, but we don’t trade all of them because there are typically too many.

Do you announce your trades?

No. We do not announce any of our own trades. The purpose of the site is to save you a lot of research time by narrowing the universe of stocks to a short list of candidates we feel have the best odds of making you money, not so you can follow us.

If we wanted to trade your money, we'd shut the site down and open a hedge fund.

How many new set ups are posted each day/week?

In a typical week, we'll post about 10-15 new set ups over the weekend and a couple more scattered during the week as necessary and appropriate. You can't possibly come close to trading them all. Pick the ones that jive with your personality; pick the ones you like the best and ignore the others.

Should I try to play all the set ups?

No, there are typically far too many to play all of them. As stated above, scroll through the lists (it’s easy because everything is in chart form), and pick the couple you like the best.

How many positions do you recommend being in at any given time?

When trading is going well (i.e. there’s a strong trend), 3-5 trades is sufficient, but we are not big believers in diversification. Even while trading a lot of money, we do not see a good reason to be in too many plays at any given time.

When the market is choppy, 1 or 2 set ups is more than enough, and it’s not unrealistic to be in cash from time to time waiting for the charts to reset themselves.

What if I have a question regarding a position I’m in or a stock I’m considering playing?

We are not investment advisors and cannot technically give you advice, but we’re more than happy to give you our opinion. If you have a question, we prefer you ask it on the message board. That way everyone can see the Q&A. If you’re not comfortable with that, go ahead and shoot us an email.

I trade both stocks and options. Should I join both?

The two services share many features (reports, market window, access to both message boards); in fact the only unique feature of each relative to the other is the actual stock and options picks. Everything else is shared. Because of this, we do not recommend joining both. One is sufficient. Between the two, we’d recommend joining the stocks service. If you want to trade options, you can always convert some of our stock set ups to options trades.

When in doubt…

If you have any questions, email us using the Contact Us link which can be found at the bottom of every page. But we prefer trading related questions be asked on the message board. That way everyone can see the answers, and we can answer a question once instead of 10 different times via email.
